All About Our Art
As the Genesis of the Hexagenia Fishing Company, our art has and always will be the focus of our operation. Centered around the world of a Fly Fisherman, these original works of art spring from a passion for a life spent on the water. If you are one who likes to bring your passion into your home like we do, We are sure you will be able to find a spot in your den or over your tying desk for one of these beautiful works.
About The Artist
Joel DeJong is a self taught artist and illustrator living and working on the steps of the Blue Ridge. His love of fly fishing, the outdoors and an appreciation of the arts has driven him to create a collection of watercolors for the passionate angler. When he is not spending his time painting trout or tying flies then you can find him hunting wild Brook Trout, hooking Bows with his Tenkara rod, or flipping bugs at eager Bass and Bluegill. One of his favorite paintings titled "Brown In hand" has also been re-printed on own signature Hex Fishing teeshirts.

Rising Brown
This work was donated to a chapter of Trout Unlimited for a charity auction. Brown like this are typical of what I pull out of the small streams of the Southeast. They are simple beautiful fish.
- Watercolor and Paper
- 8 in. x 10 in.
October Cutthroat
I had the opportunity to fish these wonderful trout up in Northern Idaho with my brother in the summer of 2011. Besides hooking into many of these, including one that tested my line to the limit, the thing I like the most was the experience I shared with my 'little' brother. If that isn't a reason to go fishing then I don't know what is.
- Watercolor and Paper
- 8 in. x 10 in.
Peacock Bass
If there is a more colorful bass out there, I haven't seen it. Part of the intrigue of angling is the mystery of what is at the end of the line. If I ever get down to waters that hold these colorful fish then I hope one of those mysteries ends up being the Peacock Bass.
